The Worldwide Association of Female Professionals Recognizes Carolyn Pettersen

Carolyn Pettersen is Headmistress and Rector of St. Margaret’s School, a private bilingual school with an international education model focused on girls and young women to be leaders and build their own futures. The school offers a primarily British-based model, encouraging students to participate in the cultural world, stimulating their sensitivity towards neighbors and other cultures, and equipping them to enact positive change contribution to society.
 
With over 34 years of experience at St. Margaret’s, Carolyn oversees curricula development at the school and serves as a primary link between faculty, staff and the board of directors. She is in charge of learning development and operations management, and undertakes the diverse host of tasks characteristic of principalship.
 
After completing her own studies at St. Margaret’s School in 1979, Carolyn went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from PUCV. She also holds a Master of Management in Quality Education from the Universidad de Los Andes. Prior to becoming headmistress, she served as head of the English Department, IB Program Coordinator, and Head of the Senior School.
 
With a true passion for education, Carolyn is an active member of multiple educational associations in Chile and within in the IB community. She also established both the student and teacher exchange programs with St. Margaret’s and schools in different countries, and has attended world conferences both for the IB and CIS. Currently, she serves as Vice Chairman of the British Schools of Chile.
 
Residing in Concón, Chile, Carolyn speaks fluent English and Spanish. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening and travel.
