The Worldwide Association of Female Professionals Recognizes Margaret F. Reid, PhD

Dr. Margaret F. Reid Professor is a Professor in the Department of Political Sciences at the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. An impassioned researcher and educator, her current research focuses on sustainable community development, gendered workplaces, and the complexities of multi-actor policy partnerships, as well as nonprofit capacity building through the 501c3 “Nonprofit Change Project” (http://ncp.uark.edu). As founder of the NCP, she currently serves as its President and oversees its mission to strengthen and improve the capacity of regional nonprofit organizations.
 
In addition to her work with the NCP, Margaret is a prolific author, having co-authored and published the book Glass Walls and Glass Ceilings: Women’s Representation in State and Municipal Bureaucracies. Her research has also been featured in Sex Roles, Journal of Women, Politics & Policy, Administration & Society, Public Administration Review, American Review of Public Administration, Review of Public Personnel Administration, State and Local Government Review, Urban Affairs Review, European Journal of Information Systems, Journal of Management Information Systems, Information & Management, Journal of Asian and African Studies, and International Journal of Tourism, as well as Strategy & Leadership.
 
After earning a Master of Public Administration in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma, she went on to complete a Master of Business Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma. In 1986 she completed her doctorate in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma, focusing on Public Administration and Urban Planning.
 
Outside of her non-profit and University endeavors, Margaret also engages in a number of international projects, working with colleagues across the Middle East, Africa and China.
 
Despite the international scope of her career, Margaret is a key figure in the Fayetteville, Arkansas community. She is a member of the national Association of Strategic Planning, and serves on the strategy committee for the Northwest Arkansas Continuum of Care whose mission is to address growing homelessness in the region as well as on the strategy committee for the region’s United Way to support capacity building for nonprofits.
